Coming Together, Learning Together

At a time when so many of us feel anxious and disoriented, it's more important than ever to hold onto the connections that matter most. The routines, too. We've been heartened by your responses to our spring term plans and for your willingness to dive into this new adventure with us. Deep breaths, everyone. Let's get learning!

Hear Directly from Faculty

Before the shelter-at-home order was issued early this week (which feels approximately three lifetimes ago), our classroom coordinators videotaped a number of faculty talking about their upcoming online courses. Take a look, and please share with others who might be interested in joining us this spring.
Watch videos of many of our faculty, starting with Tamim Ansary (above),
describe their upcoming courses. Click the photo to start, and enjoy!

Our Online Spring Courses

If you were already registered for an in-person version of one of the following courses, we automatically registered you for the online version. You don't need to do anything! You’re signed up and ready to go.

JUST CONFIRMED!:

Switches, Cancelations & Refunds

We detailed our plans regarding switching courses, canceling enrollments and receiving refunds in this email sent Wednesday. Please note: If you are requesting a refund for a phoned-in or mailed-in registration, we won't be able to process it until we return to the office. This is due to credit card security compliance regulations, which mandate that it is a violation to collect credit card data from home offices or remote work locations. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Live-Stream versus Pre-Recorded Videos

The short (and the long) of it is that some courses will be live-streamed, some will be videotaped and some will be both. We're still finalizing delivery methods with our faculty, so it's possible things may change. Or not!

LIVE-STREAM AND VIDEOTAPE
These courses will be both live-streamed and videotaped. That means, you can either 1) watch the live-stream and participate in a Q & A with faculty on a set day and time, or 2) watch a videotape of the class, which will be posted later: LIVE-STREAM ONLY
These three courses will be live-streamed ONLY, which means you'll tune in at the time and day of the original in-person course: VIDEOTAPE ONLY
All of the other courses will be videotaped by faculty and posted by EOD Friday each week.

ZOOM-Testers Needed: No Tech Know-How Required!

We're developing a how-to sheet for Zoom, which is the remote conferencing tool you’ll use to see a live-streamed class. (It's easy! No login or passwords needed!) We're looking for OLLIans to help us make sure the instructions we develop address as many of your questions as possible. Can you help us on Tuesday, March 24, at 2 PM by joining us on Zoom? If so, please fill out this extremely short form to let us know. You'll need to download and install Zoom prior to the meeting. Here's how:

  • Visit Zoom Download Center
  • Under "Zoom Client for Meetings," click "Download"
  • Open the downloaded file (it's typically saved to your Downloads folder)
  • Follow the prompts to install the application on your computer

After installing the Zoom application, view this one minute video about opening an invitation and participating in a Zoom meeting.
